This hand-pieced Irish Chain quilt is constructed from nine-patch blocks arranged on point, forming a repeating diagonal chain pattern against a deep blue ground. The quilt incorporates a range of solid and small-scale printed cottons typical of the late Depression and World War II eras. (Darting about 1938-1948) The backing fabric is an original blue floral feedsack-style cotton, and the quilt retains its hand quilting throughout. A well-preserved example of mid-20th-century American domestic quilting traditions.
